Imagine that you are walking around Rome with a small notebook and a pen or pencil with you. And then you notice an interesting view...

Let's sketch it?

That's right, dear friends! This time I'm inviting you to master remarkable sketches in Italy!

Content

Materials and basic techniques

Stop and start drawing right there!

No special preparation or materials. Exact the opposite — just here and now, with one tool!

And the rest of the colors and effects can be added later ;)

Features of the lesson:

So, we will discuss what materials you can take with you and how to use them.

And we will focus on the basic principles and techniques of working with the most convenient sketching tool — the liner.

Вasic techniques

We'll master different lines, grades of pressure and tilt angles and figure out to use them — so that you can effectively depict anything, anywhere!

Figures of people in the city sketch

Any picture looks more interesting and lively if there are people on it.

Feature of the lesson:

In this lesson, we will practice drawing human figures and learn how to correctly fit them into urban plots.

Sketch 1. Walking through Rome.

On the first sketch we will immediately hone the skill of drawing people. Let's move a little to the side, walking along a Roman street, and "take a shot" of busy traffic.

Features of the lesson:

You will learn to "grasp" the atmosphere of a city using just one tool. Here, in practice, we will immediately master the basic techniques of working with a liner/pen.

Sketch 2. Villa Borghese.

The next sketch is in the villa! A sparse landscape with an elegant gazebo...

Features of the lesson:

In this lesson we'll take a closer look at how to use contrasts for more expressiveness in black and white sketches. And you will learn how to convey the depth of space in the drawing and make accents on certain objects.

Sketch 3. Street of Rome.

A new interesting object is an arch on the street between houses. Let's catch a favorable angle and make voluminous sketch!

Features of the lesson:

Here you will learn how to depict light and shadow and to draw city streets in a realistic and beautiful way.

Sketch 4. Colosseum.

And the "highlight" of our cultural program is the famous Colosseum! Like a postcard from the trip!

Features of the lesson:

You will end up with a spectacular sketch where you managed to capture the atmosphere of the eternal city with just a few strokes.

Instead of a camera — your drawing talent!

ARTIST NADJA LEUTLOFF

Hi! I'm Nadja Leutloff. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an artist, but have begun to paint only at the age of 41...

I live and work in Dresden. By education — I am mathematician. In 2014, I left my field of work to create the dream come true and become an artist. Having no experience in drawing, I devoted myself to studying the basics and daily practice in drawing and watercolor.

Now I do paintings, I teach and conduct master classes around the world, and I believe that nothing is impossible!

I am absolutely convinced that everyone can draw and paint, because I have already gone this way!

List of materials:

  • liner (Sakura Fineliner Pigma Micron 05) or
  • ink and pen or
  • ballpoint pen or
  • pencil (2B или HB)
  • eraser or kneaded rubber
  • stetchbook, notebook or
  • regular printing paper

It's an exciting learning experience for those who:

  • wants to escape from everyday and emotional problems
  • wants to learn how to draw spectacular illustrations
  • is afraid of "blank paper" and experiments
  • wants to learn how to sketch quickly and easily
  • loves to draw for the soul, but puts it off for some reason

If you're interested in:

  • How to make art in everyday life — always and everywhere?
  • How to create expressive and memorable stories?
  • How to express light and atmosphere with just one pen or liner?
