Course content

Lesson 1. The land of light. Hirtshals Denmark.


We will go to the place where the waves of the Skagerrak and the Kattegat straits meet and paint a beautiful lighthouse in Jutland.

Lesson features:

In this lesson, we will discuss in detail the stages of work and important watercolor techniques.

From the very first painting, you will understand HOW to convey the soft Northern light and use the effect of white paper.

Lesson 2. Rubjerg Knude. Denmark.


We will learn the amazing story of the Danish lighthouse Rubjerg Knude, which is now being swallowed by a sand dune.

Lesson features:

In this lesson, you will learn how to paint large dark masses with flair and bring bright colors even on a cloudy day.

Your hand will become more confident, you will get a clear idea of the strategy for working with watercolors.

Lesson 3. Lighthouse on Dars Peninsula. Germany.


We will paint a magical evening light on the Darß peninsula.

In this lesson, we will learn in detail how to use contrasts of tone and color for greater expressiveness.

You will learn to highlight the important things and add details nicely without overstuffing your artwork.

Lesson 4. La Jument Lighthouse. France.


We will find ourselves in a truly fabulous place – on the coast of the Atlantic ocean – and create a real watercolor element of nature, the giant waves and the seafoam.

  • Professional set of 16 colors or more (White Night, Schmincke, W&N, Daniel Smith, QOR, Mijello...). Preferably in tubes.
  • A palette
  • A pencil (2B/HB)

  • A flat soft paint brush 20-25 mm. made from any natural material (pony, goat, cows, etc.) OR A round brush («Белка», 8-10 mm)
  • A natural round brush (kolonok, 5-6 mm) with a thin tip
  • Watercolour paper A3, grain fin, 300 grams, 100% cotton (Arches, Clairefontaine, Fabriano)
  • A watercolour sketchbook, 100% cotton (optional)
  • Titanium White/Chinese White watercolor OR white gouache
