“Florence on the Elbe” — that's what they call this beautiful German city — Dresden.

Gallery of Old Masters, the majestic Frauenkirche,

the Blue Wonder and the Green Vault treasury,

the picturesque banks of the Elbe and the Baroque old town — it is here in the capital of Saxony.

This city delights with its beauty,

impresses with intricate architecture

and lures with its leisurely cosiness.

If you're curious:

—  How to draw something to make you want to dive into the picture?

—  How to express an abundance of details without drawing each of them?

—  How to draw architecture in blurry watercolor technique?

—  How to allow yourself to create and enjoy the process?

Then I'm waiting for you

on our virtual plein air!

Content

Lesson 1. Rainy Dresden.

First of all we will visit an Old square to paint the main Lutheran church in Dresden — Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross).

Features of the lesson:

You will learn to very simply, but at the same time, effectively portray city views and the atmosphere of a rainy day.

Lesson 2. Dresden Castle.

In the second lesson we will walk to one of the oldest building in Dresden (12th century!) — ex-residence of the electors and kings.

Festures of the lesson:

You will learn how to “construct” a complex city view with an illusion of an abundance of details without drawing each of them.

Lesson 3. Cafe by the Elbe.

For the third lesson we will make a cozy break in an old cafe by the Dresden river to relish a beautiful view and great coffee with traditional German cake Eierschecke.

Features of the lesson:

You will learn the secret how to picture German half-timbered houses and red roofs and how to alternate different color transitions depending on the lighting.

Lesson 4. Walking in Dresden.

And finally we will take a walk along the cozy streets of my beloved city, enjoy the atmosphere and choose a nice view for a stylish watercolor painting.

Features of the lesson:

You will learn how to paint urban landscape conveying the space, volumes and measured vibes of a small European city.

—  Do you like old European architecture?

—  Do you love or wish to paint lively urban landscapes
